I had an outside herb planter last year and like it but due to severe whether I’m my area it was blown off my deck several times. So I wanted a player for inside use and I’ve planted 6 plants in the top planters I ordered. They came within 10 days when it said it may be up to 5 weeks. I used the coconut coir soil on the bottom half of the planter and mixed potting soil half/half with coconut coir soil on the top. I planted mint, dill,0regeno, basil, thyme, and rosemary I hope to be able to use them all year long. Very easy to use and pots are exactly as I had hoped
I bought this to put on my kitchen window sill for growing fresh herbs. I love the look of it and the function, pretty much everything, except the depth. The plastic insert where you actually plant the plants in isn't really deep enough for most herbs. Because of the design and depth, I can't fill it full and just leave it go until the water level goes down. The plants get too much water and "drown". Awesome planter if you have shallow root plants.
I've had this planter for about a month now and so far, so good! I couldn't be happier! This review is for the elongated pot, at the back, which holds my cilantro sprouts and basil plant. - Arrived in perfect condition with all parts included. - Easy to set up and plant with basic gardening knowledge. - Easy to fill with water. - Sometimes the meter/gauge sticks, but just tap it or pat the side of the planter and it'll right itself. I find this reasonable considering how affordable and simple the whole setup is. - I can't speak for the included soil as I used my own blend of half miracle grow regular potting soil, half miracle grow palm/citrus. With this blend, no additional fertilizer, and filtered/bottled water, my window herbs are doing AMAZING! - My basil loves this planter. Cilantro was happy as well until we lost it to aphids that came with the plant. I decided to give seeds a go, and as you can see, they're sprouting! We're going to try fenugreek in the middle, as I'm encouraged by how well the cilantro seeds are doing :)
The planter went together easily enough. The tricky part is the float and the water level indicator. Just take your time and you will get it. Once together I broke up all the coir, placed it in the pot, and added water with a little liquid fertilizer to the "super full" point. Let it sit a few hours and all of the coir will suck up the water. I then planted various lettuces. It has been about a month and I have added water twice. Everything is working as it should.
Haven't figured out the water drainage system, but they look slick.
About 2.5 weeks in. Picked up seedlings (rosemary, cilantro, parsley, basil & mint) from Whole Foods. Transplanted using the coir provided. Seemed a bit crowded with 5 herbs at first, but everything seems to be thriving. No minerals or fertilizers added yet. If this keeps up, the basil is going to reach the ceiling! Very, very happy.
