I didn't look at the measurement of these. They are perfect when cutting a stem of flowers or herbs. I thought I was getting some snippers to help me prune and that's not what these are. They are great for small jobs, but won't work for trimming hedges! Totally my mistake and not the fault of the product. I enjoy keeping them on hand for small jobs, they usually stay in the kitchen.
I've had mini shears for about a month. In that time I've used it 10+ occasions.
This is a great tool, sharp, very smooth spring. The springs resistance is a happy medium, meaning the average person could do a lot of snipping with no cramp. The needle nose design lets you reach into tight areas and still make clean cuts. While it's small, it is operable with just a thumb, and an index + middle finger; it does not require a full and tight grip for operation.
Like a lot of people I have a small garden, mostly small plants and two vegetable ones : tomato and bell peppers. I’ve been using regular household scissors for ages. Which are terrible, they’re completely the wrong tool for job and what’s worse is I know and haven’t done anything about it. what convinced me to by a actual pair of scissors is simply my tomato plants are growing out of control. Visually online these looked great, the size and shape is best for smaller plants. the narrow blade however sealed the deal. They’re light, fit easily into the palm, stainless Steel, and sharp. Perfect for the job. I’m a hairdresser and know scissors really well, here’s some tips. When these arrive open and squeeze them closed if they don’t match up perfectly tighten or loosen the screw until they do. (That’s the purpose of it)keep them clean and dry, stainless Steel can get surface oxidation, it looks like rust but it isn’t, clean them up with white vinegar. This applies to all stainless steel. Water left on the surface is never a good idea. Happy SNIPING.
I have had the hardest time finding a good replacement for my toe knife since I lost mine 6 months ago. I’ve purchased everything from box blades, butter knives, to military grade cutting tools — no luck. This little gardening device is exactly what I’ve needed. The ergonomic handles and the fine point allow me to get every last bit of whatever finds its way under my nails. The locking mechanism prevents any accidental nicks and blood loss. Thanks to Vivosun I’m no longer ashamed to wear my flip flops out in public. 5 out of 5!
I love gardening and have used a lot of different pruners over the years. I recommend these pruners for a number of reasons. First, they are easy to lock and unlock. I really like the slider mechanism versus others that have a latch-type lock. Second, the long, narrow blades are ideal for cutting the stems you want without injuring or accidentally cutting adjacent ones. This time of year I like to cut a few flowers from my yard daily and bring them inside to enjoy. A well-made and well-designed pruner makes this task even more enjoyable. Finally, while sturdy, these pruners feel light and are comfortable to use if you have smaller hands, like me. I did receive these free in exchange for my review. However, this review reflects my honest opinion.
I've a large indoor rosemary plant which has gotten "woody" over the years and I did need to prune it including some of the old woody growth. Scissors were not going to do it (I tried :) and having to get the larger outdoor type of pruner seemed just plain stupid....SO....I came across this little guy on Amazon and couldn't be happier. Easy to cut through even the toughest stems with ease...simple pleasures, eh? Price was right too.
Bought an these because the plants are really in close with each other, I wanted small pruning shears that could get in close without snipping off things I didn't want. These fit the bill perfectly.
+ Easy to use, lock & unlock with one hand
+ Very light and doesn't cause hand fatigue
- No real negatives to speak of
These are pretty nice. Clearly copies of a Fiskars design, but they work pretty well.
I have had another set before (link below; it's a long one!), and they cut really well, but the lock couldn't be used handedly. These don't have thet problem.
But both need some protection of the blade. Spray 'em down with WD40 or the like, let 'em set for a bit, and wipe 'em off, and you're good to go. (Honestly, all garden clippers could benefit from that.)
I keep 'em in my side pocket when I'm in the garden or the greenhouse. I find myself pulling 'em out and using them fairly often.
These are perfect! I've had these over a week & have already used them nearly every day. They get right into tiny or close spots & snip stems right off, they work great for deadheading or cutting flowers including roses, petunias, pansies, dianthus pinks, vinca, coreopsis, whatever! My mint, oregano & rosemary herbs were trying to flower & I trimmed the tops right off all of them lickity-split faster than ever before. They actually make deadheading flowers & plants fun because it's so easy! Plus they are small & light so they don't hurt or tire my hands to use & I can easily open & close the lock one handed so I can quickly snip, snip, snip away! I think I may buy a second pair because they are so handy. The only thing I wish is that they had a cap because they easily fit right in my pocket but that end is super pointy, I'm surprised I haven't poked or scratched myself on them yet lol. However that is my only "negative" & certainly not a big enough issue to detract a review star or my enthusiasm for these great little clippers! If you have plants or flowers buy these, you'll wonder how you ever managed without them!
**One month update**
I still LOVE these clippers! They have been used almost daily to deadhead my flowers & my flowers show their happiness at that! I really don’t know how I got by without them before & I find it to be very relaxing to use these each evening to deadhead & clean up my plants, I find myself almost disappointed if I can’t find anything to snip off lol. If you have flowers, herbs or other plants you need these!!
Man they are very sharp and they are worth what I paid for them. I husband has had no luck with other cutters. And when I bought theses ones we thought they would stop working just after a couple of uses but we were 100% wrong. They are still going strong and they are not dull and they do not stick. And they are small so we can get to the small parts of the plants. So ys I would and will be buying more from this company and if I could give the 10+ stars I would.
